ScopeDriver 1.1 Released 22 December 2001
- OS X compatible version built.
- Fixed situation where Main Window would sometimes spontaneously appear in Test Mode when adding objects to Observing Lists.
- Telescope’s GMT Offset is now saved in the program, so that orbital positions are more accurate when no instrument is connected.
- Fixed flicker in About Box.
- Drag and drop now supported between Observing Lists.
- Cut, Copy and Paste now supported for Observing List Objects.
- Fixed bug resulting in loss of orbiting body data in Observing Lists.
- Observing List file format changed; code added to import “old” Lists intact.
- Observing Lists now load Comments from database objects.
- Edit Observing List Object window now allows comment viewing/editing.
- Clicking on Observing List item now causes comments to appear in floating window, if such comments exist for a given object.
- Log Window now creates a more accurate new entry when created as part of an Observing List slew.
- Main Window titlebar no longer shows Site info. when in Test Mode.
- Add Observing List Database Object Window and Find Object Window no longer share “find text”; each saves its “find text” independently for redisplay next time the window is opened.
- Add Observing List Database Object and Find Object Windows now properly scroll the results listing to match the previous selection.
- Fixed bug where ScopeDriver would not slew to a Near-Parabolic object from the Find Window.
- Added “Startup Preferences” window — accessed by holding down
SHIFT at program launch — that allows the disabling of speech output and/or monitor size checking.
- About Window displays earlier in startup sequence, adding its graphics and user data after the graphics routine is successfully completed.
- Fixed Progress Display of parsed user object files at startup under Mac OS X.
- Log now displays “New Log Entry” as object name when creating a new entry. Prior behavior was confusing because it gleaned the Object Name from the Current Object, but the coordinates from the Current Position.
- Modified graphics for direction/focus/arrow controls so that transparency effects no longer lead to odd visibility when using a custom window background color.
- Updated User Guide to reflect changes to Slew Rate dialog; minor corrections.
- State of “Use” checkbox in Preferences window is now environment-specific (Classic or Mac OS X).
- OS X Window behavior more correct when ScopeDriver windows “sandwiched” between other applications’ windows.
- Longstanding Main Window redraw bug fixed.
- Slew Rate Dialog: Press corresponding numeric key to set slew rate in degrees/sec, or press arrow keys to move slider under key control.
- Progress dialog now appears properly in OS 10.1.1 when exporting and importing logs.
- About Box Credits now draw properly under Mac OS 10.1.1.
- Import/Export Log operations now cancellable.
- Night Vision Mode implemented for OS X.
- “Unsaved” dot now appears in the red “window close widget” under OS X. This applies to Log, List, and User Object Windows.
- ScopeDriver now saves a temporary preferences file so that preference and registration settings may be shared between Mac OS X and Classic Mac OS.
- Fixed graphics in Registration Window.
- Updated all Finder icons for Mac OS X.
- Modified auto-upgrade code so that “old” version is placed in folder on Desktop instead of in Trash.
- Fixed problem that resulted in large application size on all platforms and memory issues under Mac OS Classic.
- Position display updates once every five seconds, increasing responsiveness of controls under OS X. Position readouts continue to update in real time while slewing.
- Find Object dialog reworked to lessen sluggishness under OS X.
- Serial communications dramatically improved under OS X.
- License text now displays with appropriate text styles.
- Aqua-like controls created for focus, slew direction, and Tracking Rate.
- “Track. Rate” control heading renamed to “Tracking.”
- Explanatory text in Sun-Orbiting Object Edit Window made larger.
- Observing List Entries are now editable by double-clicking a list item.
- Preferences Window now offers option of using no background color at all. Deselecting the “use” checkbox enables the OS’s default background color scheme (the background is a pattern in OS X).
- Log Window Listing now features resizeable columns. Hold down
SHIFT key when opening Log to return to default widths.
- Log Display columns have been re-ordered.
- Added progress dialogs to Log Window, implemented when Log opens or saves. Also added number of Log entries to window’s title bar.
- Capitalization and consistency changes to ScopeDriver Object Data file.
- Communications Window now saves size as well as screen position.
- Main Window redraws less when closing Preferences Window.
- The trailing slash (“/”) is now stripped from Current Object display.
- Progress window now appears when a telescope connection attempt exceeds 1 second.
- Slowdown eliminated when adding database object to Observing List. This only occurred when ScopeDriver was first launched, and Observing List was opened without connecting to an instrument, then “Add Database Object” was clicked.
- Fixed error when sorting Log Listing with no line selected.
- Find Object Window now remembers its last scroll position, in addition to its last selection and text value.
- Log and Observing List Windows now clear previous sort column after adding items, and become “unsaved” after changing sort column.
- Observing Lists now remember their last selected line after sorting.
- Error message added if Night Vision Mode code fails to initialize.
- Import Log Window now stays open after warning about all fields being “Leave Blank.”
- Web menu added. Items: Copy Web Address, Copy Support E-mail, Go To Web Site, Send E-mail.
- ScopeDriver now detects if user is launching a different version for the first time. If so, user is given the option of copying their “old” data files to the new location.
